JK Govt Modifies Holiday Dates for Martyr’s Day and Guru Hargobind Ji Birthday
Jammu 9 June 2024 : In a recent development, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued modifications regarding the observance of two significant holidays in the region. The changes, aimed at better alignment and convenience, concern the Martyr’s Day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji and the Birthday of Guru Hargobind Ji.
Martyr’s Day Moved to 10th June 2024
The first amendment pertains to the Martyr’s Day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji. Originally scheduled for 16th June 2024, the holiday will now be observed on 10th June 2024. This adjustment, shifting the holiday from a Sunday to a Monday, allows for a more practical and meaningful commemoration of Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s sacrifice.
Guru Hargobind Ji’s Birthday Shifted to 22nd June 2024
The second modification concerns the celebration of Guru Hargobind Ji’s Birthday. Initially slated for 5th July 2024, the public holiday will now take place on 22nd June 2024. This change, moving the holiday from a Friday to a Saturday, offers the community an enhanced opportunity to honor and reflect upon the teachings and legacy of Guru Hargobind Ji.
The decisions to revise these holiday dates reflect the government’s commitment to respecting and honoring the religious and cultural significance of these occasions while also considering the practicalities of public observance. By making these adjustments, the authorities aim to ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir can observe these holidays with the reverence and solemnity they deserve.
