JK Bank Faces Uproar Over Ongoing UPI Service Disruption
Despite prior notifications via text messages regarding a scheduled downtime for UPI (Unified Payments Interface) services between 12 to 6 am on December 13, customers of Jammu and Kashmir Bank continue to experience persistent service interruptions.
Numerous users reported their inability to carry out transactions using UPI. The issue specifically affected individuals holding J&K Bank accounts residing outside the region of Jammu and Kashmir. These customers heavily rely on online payment platforms such as Paytm, GPay, and PhonePe for their financial transactions. One customer highlighted their ability to make Mpay transfers within the same bank, but encountered difficulties when trying to transfer funds to other banks via Mpay and UPTO services.

Expressing concern, a Kashmiri student shared apprehensions on a platform, suggesting that individuals outside Kashmir might face inconveniences like having to wash dishes in restaurants due to their inability to make payments.
Another student lamented their futile attempts to send money through the GPay app, which failed to function properly. In response to the ongoing service disruption, a J&K Bank official issued a statement regarding an upgrade to the bank’s UPI platform.
This upgrade requires a one-time reset of the UPI PIN/Passcode to facilitate uninterrupted UPI services. The official advised users to change their PIN/Passcode exclusively through Bank UP or NPCI registered apps like Gpay, Paytm, PhonePe, among others.
As a cautionary measure, users were warned against clicking on any links for PIN changes to ensure safety and security.
