
Jammu Police Cracks Vehicle Theft Case; Three Arrested, Four Stolen Bikes Recovered in Kanachak Area
Jammu, May 30, 2025: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, Police Station Kanachak has successfully solved two theft cases with the arrest of two notorious bike lifters and a scrap dealer.
This has led to the closure of FIR No. 29/2025 and FIR No. 80/2025. The arrested accused have been identified as Sonu Ram, son of Vijay Kumar, and Karan Kumar, son of Bodh Raj, both residents of Shezadpur, Karloop, Gajansoo. The third accused,Ashwani Kumar, son of Bishan Lal and a resident of Purkhoo, is a scrap dealer allegedly involved in the disposal of the stolen motorcycles.
The investigation gained momentum through technical surveillance and digital tracking, with a crucial lead emerging when one of the accused made a ₹10 payment via GPay for a cigarette near the crime scene. This digital transaction allowed the police to trace his location. Further analysis of electronic records and field intelligence confirmed the involvement of the accused in the thefts.

During the course of investigation ,four motorcycles were recovered,two directly linked to the FIRs, and two seized as unclaimed property under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
Police officials stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and more recoveries and arrests are expected in the coming days as new leads emerge.
