Jammu experiences hottest day of the season at 38.6°C

Kashmir experiences a continued rise in temperatures, marking the hottest day of the season for the second consecutive day. Srinagar, the summer capital, registers a high of 30.4 degrees Celsius, while Jammu, the winter capital, records 38.6 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, Kupwara, and Gulmarg among other areas also observe the season’s hottest day. Despite recent wet spells, temperatures soar, with Qazigund recording 29.2 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 25.7 degrees Celsius, and Kokernag 27.4 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, areas like Anantnag, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla, Sonamarg, and Bhaderwah in Jammu division experience the hottest day of the season, with temperatures reaching 31.6 degrees Celsius.
Meteorological officials predict hot and dry weather till May 10, with temperatures expected to be 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal. They anticipate light to moderate widespread rain and thunderstorms between May 11-13, advising farmers to suspend farm activities during this period. Dry weather is forecasted from May 13 onwards until May 18.
