Iran War LIVE Updates March 12 -2026: US War With Iran Costs 11 Billion Dollars in Six Days
The first six days of the war on Iran have cost the United States at least $11.3 billion, officials from the administration of Donald Trump told lawmakers during a closed-door congressional briefing this week, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The estimate was shared with senators on Tuesday as members of Congress pressed the administration for more details about the scope and financial impact of the conflict. Officials indicated that the figure represents only a partial assessment and does not account for the full cost of the ongoing military campaign.
The briefing comes as the White House is expected to seek additional funding from Congress to sustain operations. Several congressional aides said the administration could request as much as $50 billion, though some officials suggested the final figure could be even higher depending on how long the conflict continues.
The administration has not yet publicly released a comprehensive estimate of the war’s cost or a clear timeline for its duration. Speaking during a trip to Kentucky on Wednesday, Trump said the United States had effectively “won” the war but would remain engaged until the mission was fully completed.
According to officials who briefed lawmakers, about $5.6 billion worth of munitions were used during the first two days of strikes alone. The military campaign against Iran began on February 28 with coordinated airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
The conflict has since expanded beyond Iran’s borders, spilling into Lebanon and disrupting global energy markets and transportation routes. Around 2,000 people have been killed, most of them in Iran and Lebanon, according to early estimates.
Lawmakers have also raised concerns about the impact of the war on U.S. military stockpiles. Some members of Congress warned that continued operations could strain supplies of weapons and equipment at a time when the defense industry is already struggling to meet demand.
To address those concerns, Trump recently met with executives from several major defense contractors as the Pentagon works to replenish military inventories.
Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers have called for administration officials to testify publicly under oath about the president’s strategy, including the expected duration of the war and plans for Iran once the fighting ends. (Refrences From Reuters)
