Iran-US War Key Developments: US Sanctions Persian Gulf Strait Authority, Iran Attacks US Naval Base, Trump Threatens

NEW DELHI, MAY 28, 2026 [VoM News]: In a major move, the United States has imposed sanctions on the newly created Persian Gulf Strait Authority, which was established to control commercial access through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz that transports nearly 20% of global energy supplies.

The sanctions come after Tehran restricted maritime movement following the Iran-US war, impacting millions and the global economy at large.

Meanwhile, another major development has emerged, with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reportedly attacking a United States naval base in retaliation for recent US strikes in southern Iran, according to IRIB.

However, the exact location of the targeted base remains unclear, though Kuwait stated that it responded to missile and drone attacks on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump threatened large-scale action and denied facing any pressure related to the upcoming midterm elections.

Trump also declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to everyone under international law.
