Indian Navy Develops Indigenous Navigation System and Anti-Swarm Drone
In a significant stride towards enhancing its capabilities and national security, the Indian Navy has unveiled two remarkable advancements—a cutting-edge indigenous navigation system and an anti-swarm drone. These technologies mark a significant milestone in bolstering India’s defense and security infrastructure.
Anti-Swarm Drone Ammunition: A Defensive Marvel
The anti-swarm drone ammunition is a testament to the Indian Navy’s commitment to countering emerging security threats posed by drones. According to Commander Indian Navy, MN Pasha, this ammunition boasts a unique feature: upon detonation, it releases 300 steel balls, creating a formidable wall of projectiles capable of neutralizing enemy drones effectively. The ammunition has successfully completed lab trials, underscoring its high effectiveness in defending against drone attacks.
As drones continue to become more accessible and sophisticated, the need for robust countermeasures becomes paramount. The anti-swarm drone ammunition serves as a critical tool in fortifying national security against the evolving threat landscape.
Indigenous Navigation Systems: A Technological Triumph
In addition to the anti-swarm drone ammunition, the Indian Navy has made significant strides in developing indigenous navigation systems. These systems have been integrated into multiple Indian naval platforms and have undergone successful trials spanning over three months. This achievement underscores the Navy’s commitment to fostering homegrown technologies and reducing reliance on foreign solutions.
Under the Swavlamban initiative, launched last year, the Indian Navy has been collaborating with start-ups and MSMEs to develop a range of niche technologies, including autonomous weaponized swarms, underwater swarm drones, and fire-fighting robots. The indigenous combat information and control system, deployed on Indian naval submarines, enhances data integration and provides a comprehensive solution for naval ships and submarines.
Network for Information Sharing: Advancing Interoperability
The Indian Navy has also established the Network for Information Sharing (NISHAR), which provides a common communication network framework. This innovation allows seamless communication during joint exercises with friendly foreign countries, positioning the Indian Navy as one of the few navies with this capability.
These advancements highlight the Indian Navy’s dedication to staying at the forefront of technological innovation in defense and security. The developments in anti-swarm drone technology, indigenous navigation systems, and communication infrastructure contribute significantly to strengthening India’s defense capabilities.
