Indian Intelligence Agencies on Alert Amid Pakistan’s General Elections Announcement
As Pakistan announced the date for its upcoming general elections on February 11, Indian intelligence agencies have been put on heightened alert due to concerns that certain election issues in Pakistan could be exploited to create disturbances in India.
Alert Issued to Intelligence Agencies
A senior official revealed that in response to the political developments in the neighboring country, an alert has been issued to all Indian intelligence agencies. It is expected that sensitive issues related to India may be emphasized during the political campaign in Pakistan, and this could potentially be exploited by anti-social elements within India to disrupt peace in sensitive regions.
Monitoring Political Campaigns and Developments
Agencies such as Military Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and intelligence units in states bordering Pakistan have been instructed to remain on high alert and closely monitor political developments and election campaigns in Pakistan. These developments could have a cascading effect on sensitive Indian states.

Concerns About K2 Desk of ISI
The official mentioned that the K2 desk (Kashmir-Khalistan) of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been a focus of Indian intelligence agencies for an extended period. Instructions have been issued to closely monitor social media activities, as the K2 desk is deeply involved in carrying out an agenda against India in the Kashmir and Punjab regions. Authorities are already keeping a close watch on individuals involved in disrupting peace in Indian society.
Rising Drone Activity and Coordination with BSF
Indian intelligence agencies have also been dealing with a surge in drone activity along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. The Intelligence Bureau has held meetings with the Border Security Force (BSF) regarding this issue. Several drones have been intercepted, and some have been shot down by the BSF, leading to the recovery of drugs and arms. Coordination between the intelligence agencies and security forces is underway to track and address drone activity in the region.
The upcoming general elections in Pakistan and the potential implications for India remain a matter of vigilance for Indian intelligence agencies as they work to maintain peace and security in the region.
