Increase in Poliovirus Traces Found in Environmental Samples in Karachi and Chaman
Reports from ARY News indicate a rise in the detection of poliovirus in additional environmental samples collected in Karachi and Chaman.
SePakistan’s Ministry of Health has confirmed the presence of poliovirus in samples obtained from sewage water in Karachi’s South District and Balochistan’s Chaman region. Additionally, the Health Ministry verified the existence of poliovirus in environmental samples from Quetta district.
A Ministry of Health spokesperson highlighted the identification of poliovirus in two sewage water samples from Quetta, emphasizing the robustness of the polio program’s surveillance system.
Assuring effective measures to combat polio, the government has devised an integrated strategy focused on high-risk areas to tackle the spread of the virus.
The spokesperson stressed the importance of parental cooperation by ensuring their children receive the polio vaccine during each polio immunization campaign.
This underscores the ongoing efforts and commitment of the government to eradicate polio, urging community participation and support in this critical health initiative.
