Imran Khan Indicted in Al Qadir Corruption Case: Legal Battle Intensifies
Imran Khan, the incarcerated former prime minister of Pakistan, and his wife Bushra Bibi have been formally indicted in the high-profile Al Qadir corruption case. The accountability court in Rawalpindi conducted the hearing at Adiala jail, where Imran Khan is currently held. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated the investigation, accusing Khan, his wife, and others of the alleged acquisition of extensive land under the Al Qadir University Trust, resulting in a reported loss of 190 million pounds to the exchequer.

Imran Khan Indicted in Al Qadir Corruption Case: Charges and Legal Proceedings Unfold
Judge Nasir Javed Rana read the chargesheet during the court hearing, outlining the allegations against Khan and Bushra. The case involves the settlement of 190 million pounds recovered by the UK’s National Crime Agency from property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain. Khan, as prime minister, is accused of allowing the businessman to use the funds to settle a hefty Supreme Court-imposed fine, instead of depositing it in the national treasury. In return, it is alleged that Khan and his wife received land to establish the Al-Qadir University.

During the hearing, Khan and Bushra both denied the charges against them. The court set the next hearing for March 6, during which statements from 58 witnesses will be recorded.
