Imran Khan Dismisses Verdicts, Claims They Come From “Elsewhere”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent verdicts against him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, stating that these decisions were originating “elsewhere.” Khan accused the judges of turning the justice system into a spectacle and criticized their role in announcing verdicts.
Controversies Surrounding Toshakhana and Cypher Cases
An Accountability Court sentenced Imran Khan and his wife to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana case, while a special court, established under the Official Secrets Act, imposed a 10-year imprisonment on Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the high-profile Cypher case. Khan expressed intentions to reveal details about a necklace crucial to the Toshakhana case in a press conference, claiming it was not part of the Toshakhana and was brought to his residence by a Saudi envoy.
Denial of Personal Gains and Special Treatment for Bushra Bibi
Imran Khan vehemently denied engaging in politics for personal gains or making deals. Addressing the designation of Bani Gala as a “sub-jail” and the transfer of Bushra Bibi, Khan clarified that they did not request any special treatment for her. Despite asserting that there was no connection between Bushra Bibi and the cases, she voluntarily surrendered and was relocated to Bani Gala.
The former prime minister criticized the maneuvers involving Bushra Bibi in cases as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and emphasized her voluntary surrender to jail, citing the presence of other PTI women members in prison. The controversy surrounding the verdicts and the alleged external influence continues to unfold as Imran Khan questions the fairness of the justice system.
