In a tragic incident, an SUV driver rammed into a motorcycle carrying a couple and their five-year-old child and continued to drive, dragging the bike rider for three kilometers. The motorcycle rider, Virendra Kumar, succumbed to injuries while being taken to the hospital, and his wife and son sustained injuries. The hit-and-run incident occurred when the family was heading home, and the speeding Innova collided head-on with their bike.

Fatal Accident and Heartbreaking Aftermath

Virendra Kumar, his wife Rupal, and their five-year-old son Anurag were traveling from Rae Bareli to Dalmau town when the SUV struck their bike. While the impact flung the wife and son off the motorcycle, Virendra got stuck between the right fender and wheel of the SUV. Shockingly, the driver did not stop after the collision, dragging Virendra along for nearly 3 kilometers. Passersby intervened, apprehended the driver, and handed him over to the police.

Immediate Consequences and Police Action

Virendra, Rupal, and Anurag were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Rae Bareli and later referred to the district hospital. Unfortunately, Virendra lost his life on the way to the hospital, while his wife and child are undergoing treatment. The driver has been arrested, and further investigation is underway, stated Lalganj Station Officer Shivshankar Singh. This distressing incident underscores the gravity of hit-and-run accidents and the need for strict enforcement of traffic safety measures.
