Haryana Chief Minister Criticizes Farmers’ Approach to Delhi March
Method Critique: Farmers’ Approach Resembles an Army Offensive
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar criticized the method adopted by farmers in pressing their demands, stating that their march towards Delhi resembles an army offensive. He expressed objections to the use of tractor-trolleys, earth-movers, and a year’s ration, likening it to an army movement. While acknowledging the democratic right to visit the national capital, Khattar emphasized concerns about the method chosen by farmers, particularly the use of tractors, which he deemed as agricultural equipment rather than transportation.
Previous Agitation Reference: Tikri and Singhu Borders’ Impact
Referring to the farmers’ previous agitation against the now-repealed farm laws, Khattar highlighted the year-long camps at Tikri and Singhu borders, causing hardships to many people. He mentioned appeals from individuals citing potential business disruptions due to the farmers’ presence. Despite the democratic right to visit Delhi, Khattar stressed the importance of considering the motive and approach in such movements.
Hope for Resolution: Expectation from Minister-Farmer Meeting
Regarding the meeting between three union ministers and farmer leaders in Chandigarh, Khattar expressed hope for a positive outcome and the emergence of a viable solution. The ongoing farmer protests, with a call for ‘Dilli Chalo,’ continue to be a point of contention between the agricultural community and the government.
