Gold Bar Worth Rs 42.91 Lakhs Seized from Passenger Arriving from Kuala Lumpur

In another successful operation, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Trichy Airport in Tamil Nadu seized a gold bar with 24-karat purity from a passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The operation took place on October 17, and it revealed a unique method of gold smuggling.

Innovative Smuggling Technique

The passenger had concealed the gold bar within capsules filled with gold paste, which were hidden in the rectum. This innovative yet illegal method allowed the passenger to transport 717 grams of gold with a value of Rs 42.91 lakhs.

Repeat Offense at Trichy Airport

This incident follows a recent gold seizure at Trichy Airport, where gold worth Rs 1,08,10,800 was recovered from paste-like materials hidden in the children’s shoes and underwear. The passenger, arriving from Kuala Lumpur, had attempted to smuggle gold through his children’s belongings.

These cases highlight the continuous efforts of authorities to curb gold smuggling and the innovative methods employed by smugglers to bypass security.
