GMC Srinagar Seeks Written Explanation From Phase-I MBBS 2025 Students For Poor Attendance
Srinagar, January 21: The Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, has issued an explanation notice to Phase-I MBBS students of the 2025 batch for failing to attend scheduled classes, citing serious lapses in academic discipline, according to an official communication.
The notice, dated January 20, states that multiple departments—Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry—reported repeated non-attendance by students despite classes being conducted strictly as per the National Medical Commission (NMC)-approved timetable.
Heads of the concerned departments flagged the issue through separate reports submitted on January 19 and 20, noting that students had remained absent without authorization. The college administration observed that such conduct amounts to gross negligence of academic responsibilities and reflects disregard for institutional norms.
In the notice, the students have been directed to submit a written explanation through their respective Heads of Departments within 24 hours of its issuance. They have also been instructed to resume attending classes immediately.
The administration has warned that failure to respond within the stipulated time may lead to disciplinary action under applicable University Statutes and NMC regulations. The notice makes it clear that no further opportunity will be provided if students fail to comply.
The communication was issued by the Principal-cum-Dean of Government Medical College, Srinagar, and has also been forwarded to the concerned departmental heads and the institute’s IT section for uploading on the official website.
