Bhalessa, June 14: Under the guidance and patronage of Principal Dr. Javid Iqbal Zargar, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Kilhotran organized an awareness lecture on World Blood Donor Day 2024. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Celebrating 20 Years of Giving: Thank You, Blood Donors! Your Gift of Life is Priceless.”
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Zain Batt, Convenor of the Red Ribbon Club and Head of the Political Science Department. Prof. Batt discussed the importance of World Blood Donor Day and emphasized the crucial role of regular, unpaid blood donations in achieving universal access to safe blood transfusions. He explained who can donate blood and described the donation process, underscoring the ongoing need for a stable blood supply.
The event saw active participation from the college community, including Dr. Jozi Farhan, Head of the History Department; Dr. Riyaz Ahmed, Head of the Arabic Department; Dr. Aslam Rather, IQAC Coordinator; Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Head of the Urdu Department; Dr. Tasir Sharief, Head of the Botany Department; Dr. Mudassir Nazar, Head of the Persian Department; Prof. Vicky Rattan; Prof. Zakir Ali, PTI and Head of the Hindi Department; Prof. Joat Singh; Prof. Sandeep; non-teaching staff, and students.
The celebration highlighted the vital contribution of blood donors and aimed to raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations to save lives. Through this event, GDC Kilhotran reinforced its commitment to promoting health and community welfare.
