GDC Kilhotran celebrated World Environment Day 2024

The Govt. Degree College Kilhotran celebrated World Environment Day on 5th of June 2024 with great enthusiasm under the patronage of worthy principal Prof. (Dr.) Javid Iqbal Zargar.

This year the theme of the day was “Land restoration, Desertification and Land Resilience”. On this occasion, a lecture and plantation drive and Poster Making Competition were organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Department of Political Science and NSS units of the College to create awareness among masses to protect the environment.

The event starts with plantation drive led by Principal of the college Dr. Javid Iqbal Zargar. He was joined by Teaching and Non-Teaching Faculty and prominent citizens of Bhalessa. It was followed by a poster-making competition in which Ronika Devi Semester 2nd , Simran Devi Semester 2nd and Muzamil Mustafa Semester 4th stood First ,Second and Third respectively .

The Principal of the College Dr. Javid Iqbal also addressed the students and talked about the importance of Environmental protection for sustainable development. The programme culminated with a Power Point Presentation on significance of World Environment Day by Prof.

Joat Singh Kotwal, HOD, Department of Environmental Sciences on Land restoration and land resilience. Students participated enthusiastically in the event and various environmental issues like biodiversity loss, greenhouse effect, global warming, climate change were addressed focusing on land degradation and its restoration.

The prominent faculty who graced the occasion were Dr. Riyaz Ahmed HOD Arabic, Dr. Imtiaz Zargar HOD Urdu, Dr. Mudassar Nazar HOD Persian, Prof. Vicky Rattan HOD Hindi, Prof.Sandeep Kumar HOD , Economics. The whole proceedings of the events were managed by Prof. Zain Batt HOD, Political Science.
