GDC Doda Hosts Poet of the Year 2024 Competition

The Department of English at Government Degree College (GDC) Doda organized the second season of the Poet of the Year 2024 competition to nurture the creative talents of its students. This initiative, launched last year by the then Head of the Department, Dr. Jamsheed Ahmad, aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their poetic skills.
The event was held under the patronage and guidance of Dr. (Prof) Attar Singh Kotwal. Organized by Dr. Jamsheed Ahmad, Prof. Naz Zargar, and Prof. Anoj Kumar, the competition invited self-composed poems from students. These poems underwent thorough checks for plagiarism, syntax, and grammar before being sent to three judges for assessment.
A blind review process was followed to ensure unbiased judging.Today, the results were declared, and Mr. Pawan Kotwal from the 6th semester was awarded the title of Poet of the Year 2024. He received a memento and a certificate of appreciation.
In his address, the college principal commended the English Department faculty for providing students with opportunities to hone their talents. He also assured his continued support and guidance for the department’s future endeavors.
