Gandhi Jayanti 2023 Celebrated Across District Kishtwar with Enthusiasm & Fervour

October 2, 2023Across the District Kishtwar today marked a significant celebration of 154th Gandhi Jayanti, with a mega program held at GHSS Boys Kishtwar, a valedictory function at GDC Kishtwar, and special Gram Sabhas at 136 Panchayats.

In the Hall of GHSS Boys Kishtwar, a simple yet impressive program unfolded to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event commenced with the administration of the Non-Violence pledge to students from various government and private schools, including GHSS Boys and GHSS Girls, SDM Public School, Bal Niketan School, and Islamia Faridia School besides the staff of Educational Institutions and Municipal Council Kishtwar remaining present on the occasion.

Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Commissioner (In-Charge)/ADDC Sham Lal-JKAS, Chairman Municipal Council Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Najjar, District Panchayat Officer Sunil Bhutyal, and CEO Kishtwar Prehlad Bhagat and Principal HSS Boys Kishtwar.The attendees, alongside school staff and CEO office members,thereafter paid a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

The program also featured engaging performances by students, including skits, patriotic songs, and a thoughtful speech reflecting on the philosophy and teachings of Truth, Non-Violence, and Swachhta Hi Seva, inspired by Gandhi Ji.Addressing the gathering,DC Kishtwar emphasized the relevance of Gandhi Ji’s philosophy in today’s society, highlighting such events as opportunities for students to understand and incorporate Gandhian principles into their lives.

In the valedictory speech, CEO Kishtwar expressed gratitude to all contributors and encouraged students to uphold truth and non-violence.The participant students were also felicitated on the occasion.Chairman MC took a moment to honor sanitation workers from the Municipal Council, recognizing them as true followers of Gandhian principles of cleanliness.Meanwhile in other instance at Govt. Degree College Kishtwar, the commemoration continued under the patronage of Principal GDC Dr. Jyoti Parihar, organising a valedictory function, concluding the fortnightly activities organized from September 12th to October 1st.

Chief guest Mr. Mukesh Bali, District Officer, Pollution Control Board Kishtwar, and Prof. MM Mattoo as guest of Honour graced the occasion, witnessing the students’ talents in singing patriotic songs and reciting poems.The program included a prize distribution ceremony to acknowledge outstanding student performances throughout the 15-day celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti.Simultaneously, across all 136 Panchayats in the district, special Gram Sabhas were held, facilitated by Panchayat secretaries and PRIs.

The community discussions revolved around finalizing Gram Panchayt Plans for the next financial year besides non violence pledge were administered and floral tributes were given in spirit with Gandhi Jayanti. Besides this Gandhi Jayanti celebration took across the govt and private institutions, NGOs ,Social organisation and the govt offices with cleanliness activities and floral tributes and remembering the philosophy and teachings of Gandhi ji.

On the occasion of the birth Ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi,an Awareness campaign under the supervision of Dr. M.Y Mir, Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar was held in the premises of Mini Secretariat New DC Complex Kishtwar. CMO Kishtwar on the occasion, flagged off the Kusht Mukt Abhiyan Rath in order to spread awareness amongst the general masses regarding Leprosy.

CMO Kishtwar also emphasizes to all field functionaries to keep generating awareness in the general public regarding Leprosy and to ensure surveillance is carried out for early detection and treatment of leprosy, which helps to check the progress of the disease.Pamphlets of Kusht Mukht Abhiyan were also distributed amongst all field functionaries and the general masses.
