Facebook Upgrades Video Player for Consistent Viewing Experience

Facebook is introducing a revamped video player on its mobile apps to provide users with a consistent viewing experience across various types of videos. The upgrade aims to eliminate the differences in full-screen modes and viewing experiences for Reels, longer videos, and live videos on the platform.

The updated video player brings together Reels, longer videos, and live content into one fullscreen interface, enhancing engagement for users. Initially rolling out on iOS and Android in the US and Canada, the update will expand globally in the coming months.

With the upgrade, all videos will open in a vertical full-screen, akin to Instagram’s Reels format. Users will have access to familiar options such as liking, commenting, sharing, and sending via Messenger, along with enhanced navigation controls.

Additionally, Facebook is revamping its recommendation system to offer personalized suggestions based on user interests, enriching the overall video browsing experience on the platform.
