EU Vows Accountability for Navalny’s Death in Meeting with Widow
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell pledged that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be held accountable for Alexei Navalny’s death after meeting with the opposition leader’s widow, Yulia Navalnaya.
Borrell expressed the EU’s condolences and emphasized that Putin and his regime would face accountability.
Yulia Navalnaya addressed EU foreign ministers in Brussels, urging continued support for Russia’s civil society and independent media.
She warned against making deals with Putin and called for increased measures targeting his circle. Borrell expected EU member states to propose fresh sanctions on those directly responsible for Navalny’s treatment.
