EU and India Discuss Security and Defence Cooperation

The European Union and India recently convened their second consultations on security and defence in New Delhi, exchanging views on international and regional issues. Discussions included Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, developments in South Asia and the Middle East, and security policy updates.

During the consultations, both parties addressed the implementation of the EU’s Strategic Compass and Indo-Pacific Strategy, along with new EU operations like EUNAVFOR Aspides. They also pledged to enhance cooperation in cyber, maritime security, crisis management, and explore new avenues such as space security.

Co-chaired by representatives from the European External Action Service and India’s Ministry of Defence, the consultations underscored a commitment to deepen bilateral engagement and collaboration across various security domains.
