Electric-Bus Staff Protests in Srinagar , Demands FIR for Driver Assault
On Monday, drivers and conductors of electric buses staged a demonstration at the Pantha Chowk bus stand in Srinagar, citing ongoing harassment from passengers as the primary reason for their protest.
The protesting personnel claimed that they experience harassment on a regular basis, and their concerns escalated when a driver was physically assaulted the previous day. They expressed dissatisfaction with the response from SSL Srinagar, asserting that the matter has not been adequately addressed. In light of the recent incident, they are urging the filing of a First Information Report (FIR).
Lamenting the apparent negligence by authorities, a driver participating in the protest stated, “The concerned authorities have consistently overlooked our grievances. Our issues are not being heard by those in positions of authority, leaving us without any recourse.” The demonstrators are seeking a resolution to their concerns and a more proactive approach from the relevant authorities in ensuring their safety and well-being.
