ED Raids Casinos in Goa in Money Laundering Investigation
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids at several casinos in Goa as part of a money laundering investigation linked to alleged fraud involving crores of rupees. The ED officials have covered about eight premises in the state since Monday. Of these locations, six are casinos, and the rest are connected to associated individuals.
The money laundering probe is related to the alleged parking of “tainted” funds worth Rs 50 crore in the state, which were obtained from unsuspecting investors.
These searches are being carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate’s Kerala unit based in Kochi.
