    ED Attaches Property in SC/ST Scholarship Scam Probe

    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached a building and land valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in Haridwar as part of an investigation into the SC/ST scholarship scam in the state.

    Attachment Under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2022

    The property, belonging to the Vardhman Educational Society which operates the Institute of Management Studies, Roorkee, and IMS Institute of Technology, Roorkee, has been attached under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2022. The attachment is in connection with proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 1 crore (approx).

    Last year, the ED provisionally attached two immovable properties valued at Rs 1.97 crore, including land and buildings in Uttarakhand, also linked to the SC/ST Scholarship Scam.

    ED’s Social Media Announcement

    The ED took to its social media platform to announce the provisional attachment, stating, “ED has provisionally attached two immovable properties worth Rs 1.97 Crore in the form of land and building situated in Dehradun and Haridwar, Uttarakhand belonging to the Deen Dayal Sharma Educational Trust which runs Institute of Professional Studies, Roorkee, in the case of SC/ST Scholarship Scam.”

    The attachments reflect the ED’s ongoing efforts to investigate and curb financial irregularities and money laundering associated with educational institutions and scholarship schemes.
