An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale shook Gilgit and its surrounding areas on Saturday, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC). The seismic event was felt across Gilgit and adjoining regions, with a recorded depth of 45 kilometers and an epicenter located 84 kilometers in the North West. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties or damage to property in any part of Swat.In a swift response to the incident, the NSMC Islamabad provided confirmation of the earthquake and reassured the public about the absence of significant consequences. This incident follows a pattern of seismic activity in various regions, raising concerns about the need for continued monitoring and preparedness.
Karachi Experiences Mild Earthquake: No Injuries or Damage Reported
Adding to the recent seismic events, Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, experienced a mild earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter Scale. The NSMC Islamabad reported a depth of 15 kilometers, locating the epicenter near the Quaidabad area of Karachi.
Tremors were felt in several areas, including Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Cattle Colony, Malir District, Quaidabad, Shah Latif Town, Sherpao Colony, Landhi, Muzaffarabad Colony, Muslimabad Colony, Steel Town, and their adjoining areas.While initial reports indicated no loss of life or property damage, the recurrence of earthquakes in different regions underscores the importance of comprehensive seismic monitoring and public awareness.
Swat Shakes Again: NSMC Confirms 3.9 Magnitude Earthquake
On October 29, Swat and its adjoining areas experienced another seismic event, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, as confirmed by the NSMC.
