A tragic accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old dumper driver in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Wednesday. The incident occurred early in the morning around 8 am near Hanjoos, on the under-construction Siran-Sirachi link road in Khari tehsil.
The driver, identified as Mohammad Iqbal Khan, a resident of Chanpa village in Batote, was at the wheel when his vehicle suddenly skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. The police and rescue teams rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the accident.
Rescuers found Khan critically injured at the scene and immediately transported him to the nearby sub-district hospital in Banihal. Due to the severity of his injuries, the medical team decided to shift him to the Government Medical College hospital in Anantnag for specialized treatment.
However, despite their efforts, Khan succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital in Anantnag, leaving his family and community in mourning. The local authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The tragic death of Mohammad Iqbal Khan has cast a pall of gloom over the region, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by those working in challenging terrains and under-construction areas in Jammu and Kashmir. The accident underscores the importance of ensuring safety measures in such areas to prevent similar incidents in the future.
