Jammu, 22-08-2024: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a drug peddler in the Narwal area of Jammu on 21st August 2024. The arrest, made under the ongoing operation “Sanjeevani,” led to the recovery of approximately 1 kg 230 grams of a heroin-like substance.
The accused, identified as Gulzar Hussain, son of Hassan Din, a resident of Baghyal Dhara in Poonch District, was apprehended by a dedicated police team.
The operation was led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Bahu Fort and the Incharge of Police Post Narwal, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) East and the Superintendent of Police (SP) South.
The arrest and subsequent recovery mark a significant step in the Jammu Police’s ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in the region. A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 200/2024 U/S 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Bahu Fort Police Station.
The police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug-related activities in the area, which has seen a surge in drug hotspots.
They have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics to the authorities promptly.
The police have assured the public that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential to ensure their safety.
