Dr. Jahangir Bakshi Appointed as New Director of Health Services Kashmir
Key Highlights:
- Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather transferred from Director Health Services Kashmir.
- Dr. Jahangir Bakshi to take charge as Director Health Services Kashmir.
- Appointments are temporary and subject to legal proceedings.
The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department announced on Friday that Dr. Jahangir Bakshi will assume the role of Director of Health Services Kashmir.
Dr.Bakshi, who is currently serving as the In-Charge Medical Superintendent at Super Specialty Hospital in Srinagar, will take over the responsibilities from Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather.
Dr. Rather has been reassigned to the position of Director Coordination for New Government Medical Colleges in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The H&ME Department emphasized that this change is made in the interest of administration and is effective immediately. Dr. Rather’s transfer to the new role marks a strategic move as the UT continues to focus on expanding its medical education infrastructure.
His new responsibilities will involve coordinating efforts for the development and management of the new government medical colleges across Jammu and Kashmir.
As for Dr. Bakshi, his appointment as the head of Health Services in Kashmir is a temporary arrangement. The department has clarified that this position is provisional and subject to the outcome of any pending writ petitions before the courts.
The temporary nature of this assignment means that it does not guarantee any preferential treatment for Dr. Bakshi or Dr. Rather in terms of regularization, placement, or promotion. Any permanent decisions will be made following established rules and regulations.
This reshuffling within the Health and Medical Education Department is part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services and medical education in the region, ensuring that the administrative needs of both sectors are met effectively.
