To expedite development of infrastructure and beautification of Srinagar, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, recently convened a crucial meeting to review the progress of various Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) Projects and connected departments.
Traffic Flow and Public Property Vigilance
In his comprehensive meeting, the Div Com focused on the operational status of IMTS cameras installed at 63 junctions. These cameras play a pivotal role in regulating traffic flow and monitoring public property to detect any mischief or damage. It is of utmost importance that they are put into operation as soon as possible.The meeting revealed that approximately 1100 cameras at 49 junctions out of the planned 63 are already functional, making significant strides in enhancing traffic management and safety within the city.
Infrastructure Progress and Ongoing Projects
Regarding the ongoing rectification work at MA Road and other pending projects, the meeting reported that an impressive 95 percent of the work has already been completed, and the remaining portion will be finished in the coming days. The Div Com, however, stressed the need to expedite this process, recognizing the importance of swift infrastructure development.Furthermore, the Div Com emphasized the need for the concerned officers to accelerate work in Nehru Park and instructed the enlargement of the turning radius at the Sangarmal left junction, making travel smoother and more efficient.

Enhancing Urban Amenities and Traffic Management
The meeting also underscored the importance of improving urban amenities and traffic management. Notably, the Div Com directed the development of a parking area at Hat-Trick Chowk and the completion of Toilet Blocks in the vicinity. The discussion also delved into traffic management at Jahangir Chowk, a location notorious for traffic congestion during morning and evening hours. The Div Com instructed the painting of Foreshore Road sides, maintenance of footpaths, and the establishment of a Cycle Yard, all of which contribute to enhancing the city’s urban environment.
Illuminating the City’s Landmarks and Promoting Tourism
The Div Com is keen on transforming the nightscape of Srinagar, directing the illumination of Dal Lake, Abdullah Bridge, and Budshah Bridge. Colorful lights will make these landmarks vibrant and enchanting, attracting both locals and tourists alike. He also emphasized the importance of keeping Dal Lake clean and initiating various sports activities to enhance visitor experiences and promote tourism in the region.
