On Monday, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R R Swain, conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir. During a joint security review meeting, which included high-ranking officers from the Police, Army, and CRPF, the DGP issued directives to fortify and enhance security grids in specific areas.
The primary focus of these measures is to ensure the safety and security of the general public, with particular emphasis on safeguarding vulnerable sections of the population.Accompanied by ADGP Law & Order J&K Vijay Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone V K Birdi, the DGP underscored the importance of fostering a peaceful and secure environment through people-friendly policing.

In a statement, a police spokesperson conveyed the DGP’s commitment to implementing strategies aimed at eradicating militancy at its roots and maintaining enduring peace. The spokesperson highlighted the DGP’s emphasis on the pivotal role of the public in the current scenario, urging officers to devise more effective mechanisms that prioritize public safety while dealing with elements opposed to peace.Intelligence sharing was also a key aspect discussed during the meeting, with the DGP emphasizing the need to strengthen the exchange of information among stakeholders at various levels.
The spokesperson relayed the DGP’s assertion that external forces and their proxies in Jammu and Kashmir are actively seeking to disrupt the prevailing peace. Describing attacks on civilians and security forces as cowardly, the DGP expressed the view that such actions reveal the desperation of those attempting to destabilize the peace and order in the region.The DGP issued specific directives for ongoing actions against militants and their sympathizers, stressing the importance of keeping all suspicious elements under vigilant surveillance.
