DGCA Issues SOPs for Airlines Amid Fog-Induced Flight Delays
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for airlines in response to frequent flight delays caused by foggy conditions, particularly at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The SOPs require airlines to provide accurate real-time information on flight delays, published on their websites or communicated to affected passengers through SMS, WhatsApp, and email.
Airlines are advised to display updated information at airports and, in anticipation of delays, may cancel flights sufficiently in advance.
The move comes as 22 domestic flights from Delhi faced delays exceeding three hours due to reduced visibility from persistent fog.
