Devotees Dressed as Lord Ram and Hanuman Board Inaugural IndiGo Flight to Ayodhya
In a unique display of religious fervor, devotees adorned as Lord Ram and Hanuman were seen at Ahmedabad airport, boarding IndiGo’s first flight to Ayodhya ahead of the grand consecration ceremony for the Ram temple later this month. The event marked the commencement of direct flights connecting Gujarat to Ayodhya, with passengers embodying iconic characters from the epic Ramayana.
The newly inaugurated Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, signifies the government’s commitment to global connectivity for the holy city. The anticipation surrounding the consecration ceremony on January 22 has drawn attention, with lakhs of devotees expected to visit Ayodhya.
IndiGo initiated flights to Ayodhya from Delhi on January 6, coinciding with the operationalization of the new airport. Plans for direct flights from Mumbai are also in the pipeline, according to airline officials. The significance of Ayodhya, coupled with the temple’s inauguration, has fueled increased air connectivity to accommodate devotees from various parts of the country.
In emphasizing the importance of connecting Ayodhya with the world, PM Modi underscored the commitment by inaugurating the airport last month. The Home Ministry has sanctioned a substantial security detail, comprising over 150 central security personnel, to ensure the safety of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, reflecting the government’s dedication to a secure and well-connected Ayodhya.
