Delhi Police Busts Interstate Illegal Arms Supply Gang
Delhi police have apprehended two members of an interstate illegal arms supply gang involved in procuring and distributing weapons from Madhya Pradesh to various parts of the country. The arrested individuals, identified as Rahim alias Beti and Vishal Solav alias Atul, were found in possession of 20 semi-automatic pistols.
Modus Operandi and Arrest
The gang sourced the illegal firearms from Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, and sold them to end-users at approximately Rs 30,000 per piece. Acting on a tip-off received on March 14, the police intercepted Rahim and Vishal near Burari Chowk, Outer Ring Road, Delhi, as they were about to deliver a consignment to a contact in Shahdara, Delhi.
Criminal Network and Previous Record
Rahim, who has a history of more than ten years in the illegal arms trade, disclosed his association with Sheikh Azam alias Ajju alias Ravan from Baitul, MP, who supplied the weapons. Vishal Solav admitted his involvement in the syndicate, facilitated by Rahim. Both individuals had previous criminal records and had been involved in multiple cases related to the Excise Act and the Arms Act.
Prosecution and Further Investigation
The apprehension of these individuals underscores the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime and ensure public safety. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire network involved in the illegal arms trade, including identifying and prosecuting other members of the syndicate and tracing the source of the weapons.
