Defense Minister Greenlights NCC Expansion in JK and Ladakh for Enhanced Youth Contribution to Nation-Building
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has given his approval to a proposal aimed at establishing four additional National Cadet Corps (NCC) Units in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The sanctioned plan includes the formation of one Mixed (Boys & Girls) Army Battalion each in Udhampur (J&K), Kupwara (J&K), and Kargil (Ladakh), along with one Air Squadron in Udhampur (J&K), as detailed in an official statement. Consequently, the total strength in J&K and Ladakh will experience a substantial 46.1% increase, adding 12,860 new cadets to the existing 27,870. Presently, the Directorate comprises two Group Headquarters, encompassing a total of 10 NCC Units, spanning all three geographical regions. This expansion is anticipated to uplift the spirits of the youth in the region, fostering their significant contributions to the nation-building process.
