DC samba Leads Task Force Against Illegal Mining
On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma of Samba presided over a meeting of the Multi Departmental District Level Task Force Committee to address the issue of illegal mining activities within the district.
Throughout the meeting, a series of directives were issued to officers at both the district and tehsil levels to enhance their efforts in curbing unlawful mining activities.
In the initial part of the meeting, District Mining Officer M Sayeed presented a comprehensive overview of the targets, achievements, and challenges associated with the enforcement of mining laws.

A detailed discussion on topics like e-challans, e-market places, mining pits, mineral-based units, and transportation took place, with a strong emphasis on the strict implementation of government-notified rates for minor minerals.
To fortify the enforcement mechanism, it was deemed essential to establish special check posts and strengthen existing checkpoints, including police nakkas and forest check points.In the fight against illegal mining activities, the police were directed to take stringent measures, including the filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals involved in these activities, particularly those operating during nighttime hours.Furthermore, actions were taken to revoke the vehicle registrations of those found engaged in illegal mining.
To enhance surveillance and monitoring, all lease holders and mineral-based units were instructed to install CCTV cameras within their respective areas.The meeting was attended by a range of officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kusum Chib, XEN Flood Control Samba, and all tehsildars of district Samba. Additionally, representatives from the Forest Department and mining guards of Samba were also present.
