DC Kishtwar Chairs District Level NCORD Committee Meeting
Kishtwar, 04-07-2024 :- A District Level NCORD Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav-IAS.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, PO-ICDS Dr. Rishi Sharma, ACR Kishtwar Idrees Ahmed Lone, DSWO Zubair Ahmed, CMO Kishtwar, CEO Kishtwar, Nodal Officer ATF, and other members.
This routine meeting brings together committee members to discuss comprehensive strategies and review the implementation of drug de-addiction measures to counter the menace in the district.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of the NCORD Committee regarding the present scenario of drug-related occurrences, areas of concern, age groups of addicts, and hotspots of drug abuse in the district.
The DC also received feedback from the members of the Committee who presented the latest reports on actions taken against drug addiction and drug trafficking in the district.
The meeting underscored the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders, departments, and committee members. All participants were urged to collaborate to eliminate the menace from the district.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized intensifying testing across all educational institutions, public places, and Panchayats under surveillance, especially in identified hotspots.
SSP Kishtwar informed the meeting that a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to address the drug problem from both supply and demand sides, which is vital to containing drug peddling and breaking the supply chain. He also assured stringent action against the culprits involved in the hazardous trade of drugs.
DC Kishtwar was apprised about the seizure of properties of drug peddlers and requested a property survey of the last 5 years for drug peddlers with FIRs against them. Additionally, meetings will be held at Sub Divisional and Panchayat levels to curb the drug menace.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Nodal Officer ATF to submit reports of patients taking medicine and to involve communities like civil society, local NGOs, and other organizations in curbing the drug menace in the district.
Enforcement agencies, including Police & Excise, were instructed to ensure 100 percent technology surveillance by installing CCTV cameras for monitoring, containment, and mitigation at educational institutions, pharmacies, medical stores, and public spaces. Legal action will be taken against medical stores that have not installed CCTV cameras.
