
CWC Bandipora Saves 10 Child Laborers in Sumbal Operation.image/respersentional
Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bandipora, Mission Vatsalya, and the Jammu and Kashmir police joined forces to combat child labor in the Sumbal area of Bandipora district on October 25.
Under the leadership of Dr. Asima Hassan, the Chairperson of CWC Bandipora, along with committee members Mr. Hashim and Ms. Shahnaz, a coordinated effort was undertaken to rescue 10 children who were toiling as laborers in various shops. This operation encompassed surprise inspections of workshops, restaurants, and other establishments.
Dr. Asima Hassan stated that the children were provided immediate on-spot counseling during the rescue. Simultaneously, the owners of these workshops and restaurants were summoned to appear before the committee.CWC Bandipora has initiated a comprehensive campaign against child labor in the district, which will persist in the days and months to come.

This concerted effort was instigated on the directives of Mr. Hidayatulla Mir, the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) of Bandipora, representing Mission Vatsalya.Dr. Asima emphasized the detrimental impact of child labor on a child’s right to education, contributing to the perpetuation of poverty across generations.
Child labor severely hampers school attendance and performance. Dr. Asima reaffirmed the primary objective of addressing this issue and ensuring the timely rescue of affected children.Many children are compelled to work in restaurants, shops, and factories to alleviate their families’ economic hardships resulting from poverty and other life tragedies.
Dr. Asima made a resolute declaration that the district would be made child labor-free, and stringent legal measures would be applied against those found engaging in such practices.
