Crime Branch Files Charge Sheet Against Accused in Job Fraud Case
The Special Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir took legal action on Saturday by submitting a charge sheet in court against an individual accused of securing employment through fraudulent means involving the forgery of documents.
In an official statement, the Crime Branch Kashmir’s Special Crime Wing in Srinagar presented the charge sheet for Case FIR No 17/2023 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal on December 22, 2023. The accused, identified as Shahid-ul-Islam, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir and resident of Prang, Kangan, Ganderbal, is charged under sections 420, 465, 468, 471, and 201 of the RPC for his participation in offenses related to forgery. The individual allegedly utilized a counterfeit 10+2 certificate to secure admission into the BUMS course and illicitly obtained a government job to which he was not entitled.
According to the spokesperson, the case originated from a complaint lodged by Dr. Zaffar Shaheen, son of Ghulam Mohammad Teeli and resident of Manigam, Ganderbal. Dr. Shaheen alleged that Shahid-ul-Islam had gained admission to the BUMS Course for the 2014 session at the Institute of Asian Medical Sciences, affiliated with the University of Kashmir, based on a fabricated 10+2 marks certificate.
Furthermore, it was claimed that the accused had applied for a “Provisional Registration Certificate” from the Registrar, Board of Ayurvedic/Unani System of Medicine, using the same forged 10+2 marks certificate. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated under Reg No ME 01/2022 at the Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, Srinagar, based on this complaint.
During the investigation, relevant records were obtained and seized, statements from individuals familiar with the case were recorded, and it was revealed that the accused had presented a fraudulent 10+2 marks certificate to gain admission to the BUMS program. The investigation further disclosed that after completing the course, the accused applied for the Provisional Registration Certificate, leveraging the BUMS degree and fake 10+2 marks certificate, leading to his selection as a Medical Officer (AYUSH) as per order No. 08 DRHSG of 2014 dated 20.01.2014 issued by the Director Rural Health Mission, J&K.
Although the accused submitted his joining report on 20.01.2014, he was subsequently terminated from government services through Government order No. 178 of 2022 dated 12.12.2022, issued by the Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department, J&K.
Consequently, based on the findings of the investigation, the charge sheet has been filed against the accused before the Hon’ble court of CJM Ganderbal, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
