
Crackdown on Hardcore OGWs and Sympathizers in Kishtwar; 3 detained under PSA
Kishtwar Police Takes Action Under the Public Safety Act (PSA)
In an important operation, Kishtwar Police has taken decisive measures against hardcore Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) and their sympathizers in the district. These individuals have been booked under the Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA) as part of proactive efforts to curb anti-national activities and protect the youth of Kishtwar from being influenced by banned organizations.
Individuals Detained Under PSA:
- Zahoor-UI-Hassan Kamal, also known as Nikka Kamal, son of Wali Mohd Kamal, resident of Kamal Mohalla, Kishtwar.
- Touseef-Ul-Nabi, son of Ghulam Nabi Gunna, residing near Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar.
- Raiz Ahmed, son of Mohd Ramzan, from Sounder Dachhan, Tehsil Dachhan, District Kishtwar.
These individuals had previous involvements in various FIRs and continued their engagement in anti-national activities, including motivating local youths to join banned organizations, necessitating the imposition of the PSA.
Execution of the Operation:
The operation was meticulously executed following the issuance of PSA orders by the competent authority. Several teams, led by Insp Parvaiz Ahmed, SHO PS Kishtwar, and comprising of PSI Rahul Sharma, PSI Anil Kumar, and PSI Surjeet Singh, apprehended these individuals from different locations in Kishtwar. Subsequently, they were lodged in various jails in the Jammu province.
Police’s Multi-Pronged Strategy:
SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Khalil Poswal-JKPS, highlighted that Kishtwar Police is adopting a multi-pronged strategy to address the issue of anti-national elements. While awareness programs are being conducted throughout the district, strict actions will be taken against anti-national and anti-social elements to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
A Stern Message:
SSP Mr. Poswal-JKPS conveyed a stern message to OGWs and anti-national elements, emphasizing that Kishtwar has no tolerance for such activities. He urged these individuals to forsake the path of endangering future generations and return to mainstream society. Failure to do so will result in uncompromising consequences.

The general public is once again urged to play an active role in maintaining Kishtwar’s security. They are encouraged to promptly report any information related to anti-national, anti-social, or drug-related activities in their vicinity to 9906154100.
