Couple Arrested for Attempting to Coerce Christian Youth into Converting to Islam in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.

In a shocking incident in Madalpur village, Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, a couple has been apprehended by the police for their alleged involvement in attempting to manipulate a Christian youth into converting to Islam. The case has raised concerns about religious conversions and the methods employed to achieve them.

    Deceptive Online Encounter

The incident unfolded when a youth named Sooraj and his friend Mahi drew the attention of the local authorities due to their suspicious activities. The two were brought in for questioning, revealing a troubling narrative. Sooraj, who had converted to Christianity two years prior, had encountered Mahi through an online game, where she initially identified herself as a fellow Christian. During their online conversations, they discovered that both were grappling with supernatural challenges in their lives, which led them to seek spiritual guidance.

    A Quest for Solutions

In their pursuit of solutions to their spiritual dilemmas, Sooraj and Mahi visited a priest in the Karali area of Chandigarh. During this time, Mahi disclosed that she resided with her maternal uncle, Shaukeen, in Delhi’s Okhla area. Intrigued by this offer of help, Sooraj accepted her invitation to visit her in Delhi.

However, Sooraj’s suspicions were aroused when he examined Mahi’s Aadhaar card, which listed her as Kamarbatun from Jogipura in Bijnor, contrary to her initial claims of being Christian. Mahi skillfully managed to allay his concerns, explaining that her mother practiced Christianity, while her father followed Islam.

    Conversion Attempts and Deceit

As Sooraj’s stay in Delhi continued, he was introduced to an unknown individual by Mahi and Shaukeen. This person attempted to persuade him that Christianity and Islam were two similar religions and suggested that he should contemplate converting to Islam. Under the guidance of Mahi and Shaukeen, Sooraj was taught how to perform Namaz, and his name was changed to Asad as part of the conversion process.

It wasn’t until the police interrogation that the true extent of Mahi’s connection with Shaukeen was unveiled – they were, in fact, husband and wife. This revelation shed light on their deliberate attempt to conceal their relationship in an effort to deceive Sooraj and coerce him into converting to Islam.

This alarming incident highlights the need for vigilance against coercive and deceptive tactics in religious conversion cases, emphasizing the importance of respecting an individual’s right to choose their faith freely.
