Congress’s 70-Year Legacy and Defending Their Contributions: Mallikarjun Kharge
In a recent address, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge underscored the enduring impact of the Congress party over the last seven decades. He refuted claims that the Congress had not made significant contributions, asserting that without their involvement, leaders like Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah would not have reached their current positions.
Kharge’s Defense of Congress’s Achievements
Mallikarjun Kharge passionately defended the legacy of the Congress party, countering criticism from the BJP. He emphasized that the Congress had indeed played a pivotal role in India’s development. Kharge stated, “These people (BJP) claim that the Congress party has not achieved anything in 70 years. If we had not done anything in 70 years, PM Modi would not have become Prime Minister, and Amit Shah would not have become Home Minister. We safeguarded the constitution of this country; that’s why you are occupying that chair…”
Kharge further highlighted the concrete achievements of the Congress during their tenure, including the introduction of the MGNREGA scheme, the implementation of the Food Security Act, and their dedicated efforts to improve access to education for children. He emphasized that the current state of the nation is a collective outcome, rather than solely attributed to Prime Minister Modi’s actions.
Kharge’s Critique of BJP and the Gandhi Family
Addressing the BJP’s continued criticism, Kharge questioned the need for the constant targeting of the Gandhi family, noting that none of its members had held the position of Prime Minister for the past four decades. He challenged Prime Minister Modi’s attacks, asserting that the BJP primarily engages in taunting the Congress without acknowledging their sacrifices for the nation.
Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated the importance of conducting a caste census by the Congress government and emphasized the need to address issues facing backward communities. He asked why individuals like Bhupesh Baghel, who come from humble backgrounds, should be removed from power. Kharge stressed that the Congress’s focus is on the welfare of all citizens, regardless of their caste, and their commitment to fostering unity and collaboration for the greater good.
