Covering Up Slums Ahead of G20 Summit

The Congress party has leveled serious allegations against the government, claiming that it is involved in covering up or demolishing slums and mistreating stray animals in preparation for the G20 Summit. The party’s leader, Rahul Gandhi, has expressed concern about hiding India’s reality from international guests.

Government’s Actions Exposed on Social Media

In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), the Congress shared a video showcasing the use of green sheets to conceal slum areas just before the commencement of the two-day G20 Summit. World leaders from the largest economies gathered for this high-profile event, making the allegations all the more significant.

    Rahul Gandhi’s Statement

Rahul Gandhi, who is currently abroad, voiced his displeasure, saying, “The Government of India is hiding our poor people and animals. There is no need to hide India’s reality from our guests.”

Jairam Ramesh Criticizes the Prime Minister

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also weighed in on the matter, criticizing the Prime Minister’s actions. He emphasized the G20’s purpose as a cooperative platform for major world economies to address global issues. However, he pointed out the paradox of slums being covered up or demolished, rendering thousands homeless, and the mistreatment of stray animals to enhance the PM’s image.

    Opposition’s Video Evidence

Besides the video depicting the concealment of slums, the opposition party shared additional videos showcasing cruelty towards stray dogs and animals in the lead-up to the G20 Summit.

    A Cry for Justice

One video features a slum resident lamenting, “The government considers us as insects. Are we not humans?” The opposition party expressed its condemnation, stating, “Before G20, the Modi government covered their houses with curtains to hide its failure. Because the king hates the poor.”

    Cruelty Towards Street Dogs Exposed

The Congress party also exposed shocking mistreatment of street dogs in another video. Dogs were shown being dragged by their necks, beaten with sticks, and confined to cages. These innocent animals were denied food and water, subjected to extreme stress and fear.

    Demand for Justice

In a final plea, the opposition party emphasized the need to raise voices against such appalling acts and demand justice for these voiceless victims
