Subsequently, in 2016, the Road Connectivity Project for Left Wing Extremism Affected Areas (RCPLWEA) was introduced to construct and upgrade strategically important roads in regions affected by left-wing extremism.The year 2019 witnessed the launch of PMGSY-III, focusing on consolidating 1,25,000 kilometers of roads, connecting habitations to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), higher secondary schools, and hospitals.

Impactful Progress

Since its inception, PMGSY has made significant strides in enhancing road infrastructure. As of July this year, a total of 1,84,056 roads, covering a staggering 7,93,568 kilometers, and 10,082 bridges were sanctioned under various PMGSY interventions and verticals. Impressively, 1,70,857 roads spanning 7,12,638 kilometers and 7,264 bridges have already been completed, illustrating the tangible impact of this vital initiative.
