Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo reviews transit accommodations for Kashmir Pandits
SRINAGAR, 05 JULY 2024 : Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting in Srinagar on July 5th to review the physical status of transit accommodations under construction for PM package employees from the migrant Kashmiri Pandit community across various districts in the Kashmir Valley.
The meeting saw the attendance of high-ranking officials, including the Principal Secretary, Home, Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA, Secretary, R&B, Secretary, DMRR&R, Relief Commissioner, and Chief Engineers.
Assessment of Construction Progress
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Dulloo scrutinized the completion status of the flats being built by the executing agencies and sought timelines for the ongoing projects. He specifically enquired about the construction status at each of the 12 locations spread across different districts.
He urged the concerned officers to adhere to the set deadlines, ensuring that all blocks are completed without delay. Dulloo also directed the Relief Commissioner to promptly allocate the furnished flats to eligible candidates and to expedite other related works.
Detailed Overview of the Scheme
Secretary, DMRR&R, Anil Koul, provided a comprehensive overview of the scheme, highlighting the progress made in creating additional accommodations for the PM package employees. Of the total 6000 flats planned, approximately 4800 are in various stages of completion. It was disclosed that 2088 flats have been completed so far, with 998 already allotted to applicants.
The remaining 2712 flats are in the advanced stages of construction and are expected to be handed over in the coming months. Since April, 536 new flats have been initiated, and 392 have been completed, resulting in a net addition of 144 flats during this period.
The meeting also discussed the inclusion of Kashmiri Migrant families in the NFSA database to extend social security benefits. Additionally, there were deliberations on the packages provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for refugees from 1947, 1965, and 1971, as well as those from West Pakistan, to ensure their inclusion in the social security net.
