Centre Grants Z+ Security to Kerala Governor After Confrontation with Student Activists
In response to a faceoff with student activists, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has been provided Z+ security by the Centre. The move comes after Governor Khan engaged with members of the CPI(M)-linked Students Federation of India (SFI) during a black flag protest in Kollam district. The Union Home Ministry extended CRPF’s Z+ Security cover to the Hon’ble Governor and Kerala Raj Bhavan, as reported by the Governor’s office. The incident occurred as Governor Khan confronted SFI protestors, accusing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of promoting lawlessness in the state.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan Accuses Kerala CM of Fostering Lawlessness
After a confrontation with SFI activists, Governor Khan accused Chief Minister Vijayan of promoting lawlessness and demanded action against the protestors. The Governor, dissatisfied with the authorities’ response, staged a two-hour standoff, emphasizing his concern about pending criminal cases against individuals protected by the police. The conflict between Governor Khan and the Left government has been characterized by disagreements on various issues, contributing to the ongoing tensions.
The Centre’s decision to provide Z+ security reflects the seriousness of the situation, underlining the need to ensure the safety of the Kerala Governor amid escalating tensions with student activists and political authorities.
