This book was not only co-written by Nichols but also adapted into a successful 1988 film by Robert Redford. The film, renowned for its jazzy Oscar-winning score by Dave Grusin, starred Ruben Blades, Richard Bradford, and Sonia Braga, and highlighted conflicts between Latino farmers and local authorities and developers.
