Cabinet Approves MSP Hike for Copra & Infra Projects in Bihar and Tripura

The Union Cabinet’s recent decisions hold promise for agricultural and infrastructural advancements across various regions in India.

Among the key approvals, the Support Price for copra in the upcoming marketing season, specifically for milling and ball copra, has been raised substantially—milling copra by Rs 300 to Rs 11,160 per quintal and ball copra by Rs 250 to Rs 12,000 per quintal. This decision aims to ensure better earnings for coconut growers in the country.

Additionally, the Cabinet greenlit the construction of a significant 4.56-kilometer-long, six-lane bridge spanning the Ganga River, linking Digha and Sonepur in Bihar.

This infrastructural endeavor, with a budget of Rs 3,064.45 crore, will bridge the connectivity gap between north and south Bihar, fostering better regional integration.

Moreover, the Cabinet also sanctioned the enhancement and widening of a 135-kilometer stretch of the Khowai-Harina road in Tripura.

This development project, valued at Rs 2,486.78 crore, entails a loan component of Rs 1,511.70 crore. Once completed, the road’s expansion will significantly reduce travel duration and logistics expenses between Tripura and Assam.

These decisions by the Union Cabinet signify a commitment to boosting agricultural growth, ensuring better returns for farmers, and advancing the nation’s infrastructure, thereby fostering improved connectivity and economic prospects in Bihar and Tripura.
