BSF Seizes Suspected Heroin in Punjab’s Tarn Taran District

Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a packet believed to contain heroin weighing approximately 610 grams in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, officials announced on Sunday.

Detection and Recovery Operation

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Punjab Frontier, BSF, the recovery was made during the morning hours of March 17. Acting on specific intelligence provided by the BSF Intelligence Wing, a BSF Ambush Party detected the sound of a suspected flying object and the subsequent dropping of a consignment in the border area of Tarn Taran district. Subsequently, vigilant troops successfully recovered the packet suspected to contain heroin at approximately 5:05 am.

Follow-up Apprehension

Following the recovery, a joint search operation conducted by BSF and Punjab Police around 7:15 am led to the apprehension of an individual hiding in a farming field near the narcotics recovery site. The suspect is currently undergoing detailed questioning.

Preventing Smuggling Attempt

The successful operation, driven by reliable intelligence and the vigilance of BSF troops, thwarted an attempted smuggling of narcotics from across the border.
