BSF Personnel Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu, Jul 6: In a tragic turn of events, two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector, lost their lives in separate road accidents in Kathua and Udhampur districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, according to officials.
Accident in Kathua District
Assistant Sub-Inspector Parshotam Singh (58), a resident of Himachal Pradesh, was driving from Jasrota to Rajbagh when his vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into the Ujh canal near Rajbagh in Kathua district.
Despite the efforts of rescuers, Singh was swept away by the strong current. Although two of his colleagues were successfully rescued, Singh was found in a critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors. This incident underscores the perils faced by BSF personnel even when off duty.
Udhampur District Tragedy
In a separate incident, BSF jawan Amit Kumar Shukla (30) lost his life in a road accident inside the Chenani-Nashri tunnel in Udhampur district. Shukla, who was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, was on his way home to Jharkhand on leave when the cab he was traveling in overturned.
The sudden and fatal accident cut short the life of the dedicated jawan, highlighting the inherent risks involved in traveling through the challenging terrains of the region.
The Border Security Force expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of ASI Parshotam Singh and jawan Amit Kumar Shukla. Both men were remembered for their commitment to duty and their service to the nation.
The BSF is extending support to the families of the deceased during this difficult time.These incidents have cast a shadow over the BSF community, reminding everyone of the unpredictable nature of life and the constant risks faced by those serving in volatile regions.
The sacrifices of ASI Parshotam Singh and jawan Amit Kumar Shukla will be remembered with honor and respect.
